There are two kinds of people during the holidays: the ones who want EVERYTHING done exactly the way it's always been done, and the ones who are ready to shake things up. And then there's a third group that doesn't care as long as there's food and drinks. π
Well, apparently, a lot of Americans are getting tired of the same old holiday routine.
A new survey found that 44% of Americans are bored with how they celebrate the holidays, and 67% are planning a "secret twist" to their celebrations this year. π
So, what exactly are people changing?
The most popular idea is switching up the traditional holiday menu. That could mean replacing some of the usual dishes, trying completely new recipes, or finally admitting that nobody actually likes Aunt Linda's green bean casserole. π₯
Others are planning to decorate differently, while some are taking things a step further by celebrating in an entirely new location.
Of course, changing holiday traditions isn't always easy. There's almost always someone in the family who wants everything done the same way it's been done for the last 30 years. (You know who you are, Mom. π)
And then there's usually someone else who's completely over the routine and wants to try something new. (Looking at you, daughter!)
The trick is finding a way to mix the old traditions with the new ideas. Keep the things people genuinely look forward to, but don't be afraid to add something different. And if you're the one planning the big holiday twist, maybe don't leave all the work for someone else!
Who knows? Your little experiment could end up becoming the new family tradition for years to come. Or it could be the reason nobody lets you host Thanksgiving again. π
So, what do YOU think? Are you a traditionalist who wants the holidays done the same way every year, or are you ready to switch things up? And what's one holiday tradition you'd love to change? ππ
