So this is either brilliant... or bonkers.

Over in Russia’s Rostov region, police officers who refuse bribes now get rewarded with the exact amount they were offered. That’s right — if someone tries to hand a cop a $500 bribe, and they say ā€œnah, I’m goodā€ā€¦ they still walk away with $500. LEGALLY.

It’s part of a wild new anti-corruption policy meant to encourage officers to stay honest. And it gets deeper: the cops can also immediately open a criminal case against the person who tried to bribe them.

According to the regional police chief, Alexander Rechitsky, this approach proves they’re serious about fighting corruption. And in just the first half of 2025, officers reported 260 bribery attempts and launched 25+ criminal cases.

Of course, the internet’s divided. Some folks are praising it as genius accountability. Others are like, ā€œWait… isn’t this going to make more people try to offer bribes just to see if the officer wants the reward money?ā€

Would you be okay with this?
