🛏️ Hotels May Start Waking You Up with Smells Instead of Sounds ☕🥓🫐

Holiday Inn Express is testing a new way to wake you up — with smells! ☕🥓🫐 Instead of an annoying alarm, their new “scent-based alarm clocks” release fragrances like coffee, bacon, or blueberry muffins to get your day started. Here’s where they’re being tested, and the scents we wish would come to the U.S. 👀

Forget the jarring BEEP BEEP BEEP of your alarm clock — your next wake-up call at a hotel might be the smell of fresh bacon or blueberry muffins. 😍

Holiday Inn Express is testing out a brand-new idea: scent-based alarm clocks. Instead of blaring noises, these gadgets work like a diffuser, gently releasing a scent of your choice when it’s time to get up.

Right now, they’re being tested in different countries with different options. Guests in Australia and New Zealand can choose from the classics — Coffee, Bacon, or Blueberry Muffin. In Japan, there’s even a Nashi Pear option, while Singapore and Thailand guests can wake up to Mango. 🍐🥭

Sadly, it’s not available in the U.S. (yet), but if it does roll out here, you know coffee and bacon will be fan favorites. Imagine hotels customizing the scents to local vibes, too — apple pie in New England, BBQ smoke in Texas, popcorn in Chicago, or pumpkin spice everywhere in the fall. 🎃

And no, the breakfast smells aren’t a cruel tease — the hotels are still offering free breakfast, so you can roll out of bed and actually grab the food you were smelling.

Of course, if you’re the type who could sleep through a diner operating in your room, don’t worry — they’ll still have regular wake-up calls. But for the rest of us, the idea of waking up to the smell of muffins instead of an obnoxious alarm? Game-changer. 🙌
