You know Halloween is getting close when grocery stores are packed with candy and somebody's grandpa starts handing out Werther's Originals. ππ¬ But what actually qualifies as a βBoomer candyβ? According to the website The Takeout, it's candy that's stood the test of time without changing too much over the years. And they ranked the classics from best to worst!
π₯ 1. Werther's Original β The undisputed grandpa candy. If youβve ever gotten one of these from a bowl on someone's coffee table, you know the deal.
π₯ 2. Laffy Taffy β The candy that makes your jaw work overtime and forces you to read a terrible joke on the wrapper.
π₯ 3. Milk Duds β Great candy, assuming you don't mind it becoming a permanent part of your teeth.
4. Cinnamon Jawbreakers β For people who enjoy candy that doubles as a dental emergency.
5. Butterscotch β Another classic that probably lives in a dish at your grandparents' house.
6. Starburst β HOLD ON. Starburst were created in 1959, and technically they're a type of taffy, but calling them a Boomer candy feels like a personal attack. π Am I a Boomer now?!
7. Cinnamon Discs β For when you want your Halloween candy to taste like a spicy cough drop.
8. Smarties β The chalky little rolls that somehow keep showing up in every Halloween candy bag.
9. Root Beer Barrels β Basically a root beer float without the ice cream, bubbles, or fun of drinking an actual root beer.
10. Strawberry Bon Bons β Those little pink candies with the gooey strawberry center. One bite and suddenly you're remembering a childhood that may not even be yours. π
Just missing the top ten were peppermints, candy corn, and Tootsie Rolls. π¬
So, how do you feel about this ranking? Are Werther's Originals really the king of Boomer candy, or does candy corn deserve a little more respect? And if Starburst are officially considered Boomer candy, does that mean we're all getting old? ππ
