Back-to-school season is stressful for students . . . and apparently for teachers, too.
A 32-year-old middle school English teacher in Spring Hill, Florida, was arrested after getting drunk between classes and crashing his car into a fence in the school’s parking lot. The incident happened around 11:45 A.M. on the second day of the school year.
At first, campus police thought it was a medical emergency. The teacher was found passed out behind the wheel, with his car still in gear. But after spotting several mini alcohol bottles inside the car — and noticing the strong smell of alcohol — it became clear what was really going on.
The teacher refused a blood test at the hospital, but police say the evidence was enough. He was charged with driving under the influence.
What makes this even worse? This wasn’t his first time. He also had a DUI back in 2014.
Despite the shocking arrest, several people commented on the sheriff’s Facebook post saying he’s actually a great teacher, which makes the whole situation even more heartbreaking.
Spring Hill is about 40 miles north of Tampa.
