Wait… did TSA actually chill out for once?!

If you’ve ever done the barefoot shuffle through airport security, juggling your laptop, belt, carry-on, and the last bit of dignity you had left — good news: the days of kicking off your kicks might be over.

Word on the runway is the TSA quietly made a change yesterday that now lets ALL passengers keep their shoes ON while going through checkpoints. That’s right — no more freezing toes on that germy airport floor.

But before you throw your socks a retirement party… it's complicated.

👞 The TSA hasn’t made an official announcement.
👞 They’re calling it part of “exploring new and innovative ways” to improve the passenger experience.
👞 Translation? Some people are still being told to remove their shoes. TSA might not have rolled this out at every airport yet.

On social media, it's a total mixed bag — some travelers sailed through fully laced up, while others were still doing the shoe shuffle.

Fun fact (or painful memory?): It’s been 20 years since TSA first forced us to remove our shoes at security. That rule came after the failed shoe-bomb attempt by Richard Reid in late 2001. So yeah… your sneakers have been under suspicion ever since.

So What’s the Catch?

You’ll still need to take your shoes off if:

  • You’re flagged for additional screening

  • You don’t have a Real ID

We’re keeping an eye out for the official word. But in the meantime… maybe it’s safe to start investing in airport-friendly footwear again.

TSA, if you're listening — liquids next, please. 🙏
